Belgian firms tied to Mexico meth trade

InSight Crime – Belgian prosecutors want to put seven pharmaceutical executives on trial for supplying precursor chemicals to a major Mexican drug trafficker, an unusual case given that Asia is the traditional source for the ingredients supplying Mexico’s methamphetamine trade. The businesses in question allegedly sold around four tons of ephedrine between 2006 and 2011 to Mexican national Ezio Figueroa Vásquez, or enough to produce 66 million methamphetamine capsules worth roughly $370 million.
