Artists, activists, citizens and politicians are proposing an initiative that would remove President Enrique Peña Nieto from office.

The Citizens Campaign for the Revocation of the Mandate seeks to put the measure on the ballot next June 7, when elections are scheduled for the Chamber of Deputies, the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District, municipalities and some governorships.

The reason for the call, according to the group, is “corruption, incompetence and political fracture” of the Pena Nieto government.
